What are paper stocks?

Ravensworth uses Art Paper - the finest grade of paper available.  We use two types of paper stock - uncoated and silk.

Uncoated paper is bright white in appearance and typically, we will recommend lamination to create a protective seal over the paper and ink - especially for products that are intended to be sent via the mail.

Silk paper is coated leaving a silky, flat surface with improved opacity, lustre and colour-absorption ability.

What does GSM mean?

This is an indicator of the density of the paper.  GSM rating (Grammes per Square Metre) is a guide to how thick the paper will feel.  Papers with greater density (weight) are of a better quality and are more durable.

What paper weights are available?

We make available a variety of paper weights. For property brochures, the main ones are 200gsm, 250gsm, 300gsm or 350gsm. If your brochure has 8 or more pages, the inside pages (inserts) will be printed on 200gsm or 170gsm - depending on the cover stock.  Refer to the options table beneath each product description or ask advice from our business development managers.

What finishes are available?

We can laminate your print with a transparent film that gives your printed marketing materials a quality feel - making them more sturdy, sealing the ink and protecting them from wear and tear to improve longevity.


Matt lamination is a soft, satin finish that is really smooth to the touch. It gives a non-reflective, easy-to-read finish that is the preferred option for text-rich publications and is perfect for brands that use a paler colour palette with tinted backgrounds.


Gloss laminiation is ultra-shiny and is great for enhancing images and graphics, giving exceptional colour vibrancy.


Lamination is a requirement for products printed on 350gsm stock

Can you send me samples of different stocks, sizes, weights and finishes?

Yes! Our sample packs include examples of the various different options available.

What are your production and delivery times?

An order for products printed on 200gsm paper weight and received by Ravensworth before midday will be delivered the following day.


Orders placed on paper weights of 250gsm or over and orders that require a laminate finish will be delivered with 48-72hrs.

What time of day can I expect my delivery?

We use DX for our standard delivery service. Deliveries are made between the hours of 9am - 5.30pm, 5-days a week (Monday to Friday).


Upon request, we can arrange Saturday deliveries or delivery between a specified window in time. This is arranged via City Link - speak to your business development manager for details of costs.

How do I ensure that my images are of print quality?

You are advised to use hi-res images at 300dpi.  Ravensworth also offer a managed service, whereby our own artworkers create a template or templates for you, manually check the image quality and provide you with a PDF proof.

What is bleed and how do I add this to my document before supplying for print?

Bleed is where the artwork is set to larger than the print area, so that the ink or printed image runs off the edge of the paper.  We advise a minimum of 3-5mm bleed on all artwork to ensure that you do not end up with white borders.

How do I add bleed?

This depends on the software that you are using to create your artwork. The basic idea is that you need to create artwork where your image is larger than the finished or trimmed size.

What are crop marks?

Crop marks are added to artwork that has bleed added in order to indicate where the printed document should be cut.

Do I need to add crop marks?

Ideally, yes.  They are helpful, but not essential.

Can I send part of my order to different addresses?

For customers using our self-service or web2print service options, your order will automatically be sent to the address that you provide for deliveries. For multi-branch agents, this is typically the individual branch address, identified by the branch code in the file name.


If you require the same brochure to be sent to another office, a separate order should be placed using the correct branch code. Alternatively contact customer services for help.

I am not happy with my order, who can I raise this issue with?

From time to time, things can go wrong.  We have a customer care team, dedicated to investigating and resolving your issues. My order has not arrived, how can I track where it is?

If you do not receive your order as expected, we will need to investigate what has happened. Please contact our customer care team on 01670 739606 between 9am and 5.30pm or via email to customer.care@ravensworth.co.uk. We will respond within one working day.

I've produced my print ready PDF, how do I name my files for print?

You need to name your PDF in the following format, this tells us where to deliver, which product you require on what stock and the quantity:-

Where do I send my file to be printed?

Most files are emailed directly to our print queue.  The email address will depend on the brochure and paper stock. Please contact our customer care team on 01670 739606 (Mon - Fri 9am - 5.30pm) or email your request to customer.care@ravensworth.co.uk.  We aim to respond within one working day.

I need help to design a new document

There are various service levels available and the service that is most appropriate for you will depend on things like whether you have admin resource, which estate agency management software you use, if you require a simple or more complex design.  Please visit 'how we work' for more information on the options and contact your local business development manager who can help you get started.

I'm having difficulty with my brochure design template

How do I change my existing template?
